Turkey, Ottoman Empire. An Order of the Medjidie, Commander, c. 1880 United Republic of (Koninklijke Orde van Holland)Instituted in 1851. In silver and enamel, star has seven triple quills with small crescents and stars between each quill, obverse shows Sultan Abdul Mejids royal cipher surrounded by an inscription, inclusive of crescent moon suspension 79 mm (h) x 60 mm (w), weighs 34. 7 grams, on original striped ribbon, hallmarked on reverse, excellent 19th century example, very fine condition. Footnote: The Order of the Medjidie was a military and knightly order
