In 1892, the founder took a break from managing the Glenfiddich Distillery to establish the nearby Balvenie Distillery, also still owned by William Grant & Sons. In 1963 the distinctive three sided Glenfiddich bottle was introduced. In the same year, the distillery also brought the first official single malt whiskey onto the market.
