The name is derived from the Talisker House estate, located a few miles west in the mountains. After a fire in 1960 destroyed almost the entire distillery, Talisker was faithfully rebuilt a few years later. Skye's breathtaking landscape attracts countless tourists to the distillery every year, many of whom are captivated by the distillery's peppery, smoky single malt.
